Continuous Quality Improvement
CQI is a progressive improvement of care quality and patient safety focusing on outcomes, operations, and regulatory compliance. Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) reduces medical errors by structuring orders for appropriate frequency, route, and dose, and checking for drug interactions and allergies (O'Donnell & Gupta, 2023).
The PDSA Cycle
The Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle supports CQI by defining objectives (Plan), implementing the plan (Do), studying results (Study), and examining goal achievement (Act). Failure to achieve goals triggers a new PDSA cycle (Chen et al., 2021).
