The healthcare delivery system in the United States as revolutionized in the past few years. There have been introduction of policies and laws that are necessary in improving the care delivered. This paper discusses an emerging law in healthcare and its effects on nursing practice, describes the pay for performance and quality measures that affect patient outcomes, professional nursing leadership and management roles and the emerging trends in healthcare and how they will transform nursing.

Current or Emerging Health Care Law or Federal Regulation and Effect on Nursing Practice, Role and Responsibility

One of the emerging healthcare laws is Health Care Improvement Act of 2021. The bill seeks to make significant changes in healthcare market place such as encouraging states to expand their Medicaid, expanding the premium assistance and establishing an option for public health insurance. In doing so, the bill starts by expanding the premium tax credit that helps people based in the household income. It provides funding for state reinsurance payments and insurance-related costs for individuals enrolled to the plans through individual marketplace.
