Inadequate Staffing
Inadequate staffing jeopardizes employee and patient safety, lowers care quality, and leads to hiring mismatches. Indicators include high nurse-patient ratios, non-competitive pay rates, role inefficiency, burnout, bullying, and decreased satisfaction (Cho et al., 2020).
Workplace Violence
Workplace violence includes threats, harassment, and disruptive behavior causing 17.2% annual nurse turnover. Violence rates increased from 2.0 events per 100 beds in 2012 to 2.8 in 2015 (Al-Qadi, 2021).
