Assessing Organizational Culture
An organization's culture has significant effects on the implementation of nursing practice interventions. The components influencing reception and adoption include staff behaviors, values, and beliefs. Three major challenges limiting change implementation are staff resistance to change, inefficient communication, and lack of necessary resources.
Staff Resistance to Change
Resistance among nurses can be attributed to fear of the unknown, emerging when nurses are uncertain about project outcomes such as balancing duties with additional responsibilities. Nurses may resist change as it disrupts the status quo. Additionally, resistance can stem from management's inability to share the long-term vision of the change (Cheraghi et al., 2023).
Communication and Resource Challenges
The major communication issue is information overload, where time-constrained nurses bombard patients with excessive information. Additionally, organizations may lack resources for prevention programs, limiting nurses' commitment to patient education (Pitsillidou et al., 2023).
Importance of Local Healthcare System Understanding
Clinical and healthcare system understanding at a local level illuminates contextual factors, healthcare system regulations, and stakeholder engagement. Important factors include resource availability, recommended healthcare practices, and target population demographics. Understanding regulations ensures compliance, and project success depends on key stakeholder engagement.
