Nurses are obligated to provide high-quality care and their experiences, skills, knowledge, and close relationship with the patients enhance the understanding of the healthcare delivery system. During their practice, nurses are more aware of the changes in healthcare and can use the acquired skills and knowledge to introduce changes in Evidence-Based Practice and ensure that all people have access to cost-effective care. Nurses play a crucial role in advocacy and they play a crucial role in introducing laws that are beneficial to the nurses, patients, and the entire healthcare system (Abbasinia et al., 2020). With various types of certifications, nurses can conduct various tests but with the guidance of physicians.
One of the legislation that has been introduced due to nurse advocacy is the APRN Modernization Act. This Act provides the nurses with different opportunities to practice to their full extent, address the limitations in the organizational setting and team, introduce new Evidence-based Practice procedures, advance the healthcare technology, and provide high-quality and timely care to the patients. This is essential in achieving health equity. APRN Modernization Act has helped to solve issues to do with nursing shortage that enhances patients access to quality care that enhances their recovery. The act creates a platform for practice objectives, rules, and practice methods of the APRNS. It also helps Certified Registered Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Nurse Anesthetist and Nurse midwives with the Grants Title Protection (Wisconsin Nurses Association, n.d). For the advocacy of the issue to continue, nurse leaders, nurse representatives, and medical professionals to be regularly updated on the latest healthcare developments. They should be encouraged to advocate for the act to help the patients have high access to healthcare and achieve health equity.
