Personal and Professional Values Online
Nurses must align social media activity with professional values of honesty, respect, and empathy while maintaining high standards of conduct in digital interactions.
HIPAA and Social Media
Personal conduct can violate HIPAA by sharing patient names and images, making degrading workplace comments, or posting patient photographs. Violations can lead to reputation damage, lawsuits, and licensure withdrawal (D'Ordine, 2023).
Human Dignity and Christian Values
Social media activity should demonstrate commitment to compassionate, equitable care without discrimination, advocate for patient rights, and maintain confidentiality and privacy (Türkben Polat & Özdemir, 2022).
