Sample Answer
Based on your experience, explain how systems thinking helps leaders to build strong interprofessional and organizational relationships.
Systems thinking views an organization as interconnected and complex systems and not a collection of the individual parts of the organization. By utilizing this perspective, healthcare leaders can have an understanding of the interactions and relationships between the different system components (Hobbs & Midgley, 2021). This enables the leaders to make decisions that are crucial in the development of the organizations and enhancing relationships between the team members.

The system thinking tools that leadership can apply to enhance interprofessional collaboration are system maps, causal loop diagrams, and simulation modeling. System maps are a visual representation of how different parts of the organizations are connected. Causal Loop Diagrams (CLDs) help managers visualize how the different organization's components are related and how they influence each other. On the other hand, simulation modeling allows managers to introduce and test different scenarios in the workplace and their effects on the organizations (Davahli et al., 2020). System thinking is beneficial as it enhances the understanding of the nurse leaders of how changes in one part of the organization affect another. This fosters collaboration between the team members in an organization. System thinking improves the ability of leaders to make decisions that will be beneficial to the entire organization. Additionally, system thinking identifies the limitations in the organization system and this fosters excellent use of resources and improves the organizational processes. The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) competencies that relate to system thinking are interprofessional communication, responsibilities of team members, ethics in interprofessional practice, and teamwork. System thinking enables nursing leaders to incorporate these IPEC competencies into their practice through various models. For instance, nurse leaders understanding of the responsibilities of the team members are essential in improving communication and collaboration.
