Understanding Clinical Reasoning
Clinical reasoning is a complex cognitive process used to diagnose disease, make therapeutic decisions, and estimate prognosis. It involves collecting, interpreting, and integrating clinical information to reach appropriate diagnoses (Yazdani & Hoseini Abardeh, 2019).
Developing Clinical Reasoning Skills
Strategies include identifying learning needs through self-evaluation, applying the five-step nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation), reflecting on practice through journaling and peer discussion, and seeking continuous feedback (Toney-Butler & Thayer, 2023).
